How Does Your PC Get Infected by SocialSearchBar_App Toolbar Adware?
As modern technology is maturing day by day, cyber hackers are discovering new ways in which they can easily spread malware on the Internet. If you do not use caution when surfing online, you will probably get malware downloaded and installed on your PC unknowingly. Your computer gets infected by the adware, probably because of these reasons:
You install software containing installer of the adware.
You may get the adware installed on your computer when installing software that is downloaded from unreliable sources. The cyber hackers are so smart that they will inject installer of the adware into some software and once you download and install that software, you will install the adware on your computer as well. But this could be avoided if you pay attention to these two aspects when installing the software: (1) choose the Custom installation mode, so that you can deselect any optional programs; (2) read the “Terms & Conditions” agreement, so that you can decline to install any unwanted program.
You open email attachments sent by unknown people.
Email attachments have been a popular way for cyber hackers to spread adware and other types of malware. Opening attachments sent by unknown people or even your friends might lead to malware infection. Some email attachments appear to be legitimate files but actually executable files of malware. Clicking on them will immediately activate the malware. So, you should use caution when receiving emails with attachment that look suspicious. If the attachments are from unknown people, just ignore them; if from the people you know, you’d better check with them to make sure the attachments are safe.
You visit malicious websites or legitimate websites that have been hacked.
Cyber hackers will create many malicious websites or hack the legitimate websites in order to distribute malware to a wide range of Internet users. Usually, they use the drive-by downloads technique to allow dangerous code to install on your computer once you visit the malicious websites. This means that even though you do not click any buttons or links within the websites, the malicious code can be automatically downloaded in the background to your machine. Therefore, it is important that you always ensure that you are running the latest version of your browser, since they can, to some extent, help identify fraudulent websites and warn you before accessing certain malicious websites.
